Easy GLUTEN FREE Air Fryer Egg on Toast

A quick and easy recipe for a delicious breakfast or brunch. This toast with an egg in the center is crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside — ideal for a busy morning or a last-minute meal

Egg in a Hole is a nostalgic breakfast for me. My mom made it all the time growing up and it is a favorite of mine.

This of the favorite, Air Fryer Egg Toast, is even better than when it is made on stovetop. The toast is perfectly crispy, the egg whites fully cooked, and the yolk nice and runny.

This recipe is also great because you can adjust the cooking time on the air fryer to get the yolks to your preference. I love mine runny and 8 minutes works perfectly for that result.

I love to make this for my kids because it involved very little effort, and very little clean-up. Making egg toast in the air fryer is a game changer for breakfast time.

 Ingredients (for 1 serving)

  • 1 slice of bread
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil or a small pat of butte(optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Toppings of your choice: avocado, grated cheese, fresh herbs, etc.

Instructions

Prepare the bread

  • Take a slice of bread and cut a small hole in the center using a cookie cutter or a glass.

2. Preheat the air fryer

  • Preheat to 180°C (350°F) for about 2 minutes.

3. Assemble the toast

  • Place the slice of bread in the air fryer basket.
  • Lightly brush with olive oil or butter for extra crispiness (optional).
  • Crack the egg and gently pour it into the hole in the bread.
  • Season with salt and pepper.

4. Cook

  • Air fry for 6–8 minutes, depending on your preferred yolk consistency (soft or firm).

5. Serve

  • Remove the toast carefully with a spatula.
  • Add toppings such as avocado slicesshredded cheese, or fresh herbs.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!
